What is Dead Cells?

Dead Cells mixes elements from rougelike games and metroidvania games. In other words it is action-platformed inspired by such titles like Castlevania, where you're going to travel through constantly shifting castle. As in other rouglikes, death is permanent. When you die, you start your adventure from the very beginning. 

Don't worry though, it is part of the mechanics of the game. When you die, new parts of the castle are going to be opened for you. Sometimes you simply have to die, to rearrange the area in a way which is going to open a new path for you. Sooner or later you're going to realize that you are so good, that you can finally move further. Each small step is going to feel like a huge accomplishment for you.

Enemies like in Souls series

Authors of Dead Cells took a lot of inspiration from different games. Thanks to this they were able to create a perfect challenge just for you. For a person, who is looking for a thrilling experience. Each battle is very hard. Not only bosses but even normal enemies are tough opponents. In order to defeat them, you have to utilize all your skills in 2-D action-platforming games.

A real metroidvania game

Dead Cells is one of the best examples of metroidvania games. In other words, it is game where the entire World is divided into small segments (or rooms if you want to call them in such way). These segments can be connected in various ways. To provide you with an example. Let's say that there is one room, which is blocked from the front due to locked doors. Well, what to do next is up to you. You can access the level from the other way. Moving through other segments you can find yourself above the target room. Basically, all places in Dead Cells can be accessed in various ways. 

Freedom of exploration awaits. Secret rooms, various hidden places, beautiful landscapes. Everything is here for you. The progression in this game is entirely nonlinear. You choose your own path and visit new areas. However, sometimes you're going to find places like sewers or remparts. In order to be able to get through them, you might need special abilities. Thanks to this you're going to feel the progression of your character.
